Who am I?

Winona is an exercise physiologist who is very kind, curious, and fun. 

She is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. She strives to deliver the highest quality of care, and always puts the needs of others first, typical of the eldest child of a family. Although, her younger brother might say otherwise (haha). 

Winona’s mission and values 

Exercise physiology is an arising profession that may not be commonly heard of, check out our blog post on what exercise physiology is in this link. However, Winona discovered this profession as she was recovering from an injury. After engaging in multiple forms of treatment for her whiplash injury, Winona was supported by an amazing exercise physiologist who helped her with returning to her sport and leisure activities. Winona was shown that tailored movement can be successfully used in helping someone recover from an injury.

The approach of exercise physiology is evidence-informed and facilitates long-term results and self-management. That’s why Winona strives to provide care that is:

Winona has a vast experience working with NDIS clientele. This passion stemmed from her role as a support worker during her university studies. She wanted to continue to provide quality care to this population group as their exercise physiologist. Winona understands that people with disabilities require extra guidance and the right environment to flourish and become more physically active.

Winona has also been able to demonstrate her caring nature to individuals who have sustained an injury at work or have been involved in a motor vehicle accident. Winona understands that the return to work journey can be lengthy and complicated, however, her supportive nature helps empower her clients to do their best in the process. 

Winona’s Interests

Winona has a curious nature and has the urge to try new things. There will always be something that will excite her. Recently, it has been tennis, which has been a real challenge. 

Winona spends most of her time with her friends and family. They will be out trying new restaurants, playing mah-jong or singing karaoke. When the weather is great, she won’t be able to resist going on a road trip for a food adventure or scenic hikes. 

Winona enjoys immersing herself in the arts; music, language, reading and painting.

Winona enjoys going to the gym and playing all sorts of sports, including swimming, Badminton, tennis, volleyball and oztag.

She was able to luckily win the championship of the season during her first time being the captain of a mixed oztag team. She especially likes to grind advanced songs on the piano and has taught herself to play the guitar. She enjoys watching dramas and movies, and LOVES a good feed. Winona enjoys eating sushi and noodle dishes. 

Favourite moments in the clinic?

After a Pilates or rehab class, everyone will finish off with a smile on their face, knowing that they’ve worked hard and pushed themselves. Winona cherishes this moment the most because she can see the effort that has been put in by her patients and being a part of that is extremely rewarding and motivating.

Also, when there is cake because we are celebrating someone’s birthday. She always enjoys spending time with the UniquePhysio team and is grateful for the supportive team she is able to work with (not just for the cake) <3

What is Winona currently working on / improving? 

Winona leads a busy lifestyle, juggling work, social commitments and her multiple hobbies. Hence, she has been focusing on self-care, placing an emphasis on alone time and sleep.

Resting and recovering is becoming one of her priorities so she can be the best version of herself for others.
