Pilates Classes: what’s the difference between a class and 1 on 1 sessions?

Here at UniquePhysio we believe in the phrase “motion is lotion”. Exercise plays a huge part in recovery and the journey to becoming the best version of ourselves. So whether you’ve had an injury or surgery, you’re managing a chronic health condition, or simply want to improve in the physical aspects of your life, we are here to help you.

Our team of physiotherapists and exercise physiologist offer both 1-on-1 sessions and classes to guide you through your exercise journey. Our gym is equipped with all the equipment and tools you may need for your exercises, including Pilates reformers if you are working through a pilates-based program.

Pilates: the difference between 1-on-1 sessions and classes

A 1-on-1 session is a consultation between just you and your therapist. This will start off with an initial assessment, where we learn about you and assess your needs. Then we will work through a treatment plan with you to achieve your goals, which will more than likely incorporate some exercises.

During your 1-on-1 session, your therapist will recommend which exercises to do and teach you how to perform them. You will also get the chance to practice them in your session, receive immediate feedback on how you’re going and tips on how to improve.

A class is purely an exercise session where you come into our gym and work on your program. With up to 4 participants, classes are a very fun way to interact with others and can also be a more affordable option. Each class is run by either a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist. They may or may not be your regular 1-on-1 therapist but will be well-informed of your condition, your progress and the exercises you have been working on.

There is also no need to worry about the class moving too quickly or too slow for your abilities. Each participant will have their individual program and the supervising therapist will come round to each of you to teach and modify your exercises according to your needs.

Normally our clients will begin with 1-on-1 sessions and later move into an exercise class when ready. However, you are more than welcome to continue 1-on-1 if that’s what you prefer.

So if you’re suffering from an injury or an illness, book a 1-on-1 session with us today and we can get you started on your recovery journey. When you’re ready, we’ll help transition you into our classes. If pilates is something you’re interested in, we can also incorporate that into your program.
